Minimal Monday

Technology is one of the last things I tend to declutter and I know I must change my ways. Once I get used to my source of technology, particularly my laptop and phone, I want to hang on to them even when I know it is time to move on.

When we don’t face what needs clearing out, it can cause problems and that is exactly what happened to me. For a couple years now, I have denied that I needed a new laptop. Recently, my old laptop wreaked havoc at the beginning of an important podcast interview, and so I finally swapped it out (You could say I was motivated by pain!) As reluctant as I had been, it was a good chance to have a clean slate. I cleared out emails and old files and now my laptop aligns more with my future self than with my past.

This seems like a healthy goal to have; making our choices align with positive change, and with the self we most want to be, not the self we once were. I want to be someone who is organized and up-to -date with her technology, not someone who avoids this. I might be on my way.

*In other news, my book travelled without me to the Parental Alienation Study Group Conference in Fort Collins, Colorado!
