Minimal Monday

It is hard to believe it has been twenty-two years since the 9/11 attacks. Those of us old enough to remember, all seem to recall where we were and what we were doing when we heard the news. I was taking a walk with my husband, an airline pilot who was not flying that day. A friend called and told me to turn on the news. Like many others, we stared at the television in disbelief.

So many people’s lives were drastically changed that day, some abruptly and prematurely ended. For the rest of us, what have we done with the past twenty-two years? Did something inside of us shift? There were so many lessons and messages to choose from. These are only a few that come to mind, and I am sure you have your own.

Life is fragile.
Bad things happen.
Look for the helpers.
Religious fanaticism is destructive.
Prayers help.
Much is out of our control.
Be kind.
